Media Ethics is the discipline of applied ethics that reflects upon the entire field of media in all of its manifestations. The term “media” applies to all the systems by which information is mediated to a public, though it has been traditionally applied to television, newspapers and the internet.
In addition to debates on these media, however, ethical reflection is also focused upon aspects of entertainment, art (understood in the broad sense and not merely visual arts) and the pedagogy of teaching about media.
