Theories and practices of market systems exhibit tensions between the desire for entrepreneurial profit and social morality. Business Ethics examines the difficult tensions between self-interest and morality while challenging that they are inherently irreconcilable. Deeper ethical study of the nature of self-interest and the principles of morality offers an understanding about how conflicts emerge and where compatible and productive solutions may be found.
