Master of Applied Ethics PDF Drucken E-Mail

The Department of Applied Ethics offers a self-standing masters program. The Master of Applied Ethics is research oriented. Students may apply who have attained a thorough, fundamental education in political science, philosophy, theology or in pedagogy. This creates the basis necessary for working in this modern, constantly developing, interdisciplinary scientific field. Other applicants, especially international students, may also apply for the “Masters of Applied Ethics” program. They must, however, demonstrate that their academic preparation and their awarded degrees are generally equivalent to that of the Bachelor (BA) program at the FSU Jena.
The course of studies offers an extensive education concerning methods, cases and positions in the field of applied ethics. At the same time, students will acquire competence in thoroughly analysing and evaluating ethical challenges. The department at FSU focuses especially on medical ethics, business ethics and environmental ethics.
Besides developing scientific abilities, graduates will advance their communication skills. Studies for one semester at a university abroad are welcome and provide the international training demanded in science.
The degree qualifies for careers in academic fields (public or private), in journalism, in the field of corporate communication, in foundations and associations, especially where ethical competence is required. The degree also serves as an excellent basis for higher academic qualifications such as a Ph.D. in Applied Ethics at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität and at other universities in Germany or abroad.
The main language of instruction is German. For descriptions of coursework (Musterstudienplan) and the specific course listings with discriptions (Modulkatalog) please refer to the German homepage.
